Croatian Diaries: KRKA WATERFALLS

Ideally my plan was to conclude the four part 'Croatian Diaries' series in September, but things do not always go to plan (in other words, I need to work on my time management).

I don’t mean to drag my Croatia travels...

so here is part three! Just an insight into what we got up to on our brief stop in Split.

I spent one night in Split, the following day we travelled to Krka Waterfalls.

Krka is the seventh national park in Croatia.

We booked our room in Split with

for one night and travelled to Krka at 9am the following day. Luckily in the streets of Split there were many baggage storage places to leave your luggage for the day. I have a feeling this is what most of people must do when exploring Split or heading specifically just to the waterfalls as it is one of Croatia’s major attractions. This is what we did before returning to Split later that evening to take a night coach to Pula.

Just less than two hours on the coach from the town centre we arrived at the port, the scenery was incredible. We crossed the Krka River to make our way to the waterfalls. My expectations of this place were that it would be peaceful and calm. I couldn't have been more wrong. In a matter of seconds after arriving you are reminded that this is a tourist attraction. With a mass of people surrounding you. The location of the waterfalls instantly resembles the atmosphere of a theme park. In fact it was a struggle to even take pictures of the waterfalls without getting people in them. But I guess most people primarily go there to swim. It is a shock to the system at first, the amount of people there with you but you soon get used to the crowd.
