Pimp My Ride - West Africa #1
If you follow me on
, you would have seen what I captioned over the weekend on one of my posts. I mentioned how the taxi experience in Dakar is that extra bit more fun, by the quirky and contrasting interiors each taxi has, all of which are customized by the taxi drivers themselves. Like any owned interior, it’s informative and enlightens the passenger about the driver in the slightest way. Regardless of language barriers, the different interiors I find them to be useful props for starting/ continuing conversations with your chauffeur of approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
Especially if you can converse with the driver, if the conversation gets flowing you can discover more of the back story, the reason behind their chosen design/interior. Where they bought the materials etc. Like I said I find this aspect of the journey interesting, I don’t have to necessarily like or agree with their choice of style but if I do that’s a bonus! It a different approach and experience of travelling from one place to another to a new level.
